We are pleased to report that a successful Show Day was held at Colchester on Tuesday 3rd December 2024 when a good selection of East Anglian and East Midland Stock was forward in the Cattle and Sheep Classes.

In the Cattle Classes, the Judge, Mr Ted Neal of Kings Lynn awarded the Overall Championship to a very smart Limousin Cross to W A Kentley & Sons of Fingringhoe, near Colchester, Essex which weighed 565kg, sold to Allman Fowler of Fowler Brothers, Burnham on Crouch, Essex for their shop.  The Overall Reserve Championship was awarded to Richard Criddle, Kenninghall, Norfolk, weighing 523kg, also awarded the Broadoak Farm Perpetual Trophy for the Best Butchers Beast under 550kg and sold to H G Blake of Felthorp, Norfolk at 405pkg (£2118.15).  A consistent trade for the 36 show cattle forward

The Sheep Show attracted 72 Show Sheep in three classes, an excellent quality forward before Judge, John Coleman of Boxted.  Overall Champion Pen of Lambs made £230 a head (529pkg), consigned by Benn Lugsden if Thwaite.  These were purchased by the Judge.  The Reserve Overall Champion Pen of Lambs awarded to Tim Pratt of Hacheston, Suffolk, sold to C Humphries & Son, Fairstead at £160 a head (400pkg).  As usual, the Non Show Sheep met a strong trade in Colchester with weight no issue.
